Superbowl Sunday! There is nothing like lots of food, booze, and betting, to make a great football watching experience. I went over to my sister’s place for her annual Superbowl party. There was the standard squares betting game and the commercial drinking game. For the commercial drinking game I got “Babies” and “Technology and websites.” – meaning I had to drink anytime a commercial incorporated those two elements. I was fortunate enough not to get the “TV Show/Movie” and “Celebrity Cameo” combination or the “Hot Chick” and “Alcohol” combination. And as a bonus, I won $100 in the squares game. W00t!

Groupon Success Kid

Every time I buy a Groupon, I’m always worried that I’ll forget when the Groupon expires and lose out on the promotional pricing. Well my fears were realized this weekend when I saw that my Groupon for sushi expired. An extra $15 wasted! Luckily the price you actually paid for the Groupon never expires, so at least I didn’t lose any money. But since I was in town I figured I might as well use it so I don’t forget about it anymore. What happens next is a true success kid meme. Gave waitress expired groupon – got the full discount.

First Friday Adventure Time

Every first Friday of the month, the city of Oakland has a combined event called Art Murmur / First Friday. Art Murmur promotes local art awareness and art galleries tend to open up longer for people to enjoy. First Friday is a street festival that has lots of food trucks, and music, and vendors selling trinkets and other goods. Some friends talked me into going and we BARTed into Oakland to meet up at one of my friend’s apartment. The food trucks were delicious and the crowds were huge. All was well until the shooting started. Damn, Oakland! You scary!
